  • 1x Big knob (no jokes pls this is serious)

  • 2x Small springs

  • 1x Large spring

  • 1x Metal lever catch/lock

  • 2x Front black buttons

  • 7x M3 nuts

  • 2x M3 washer

  • 5x M3x20mm bolt

  • 2x M3x12mm bolt

TOOLS AND EXTRAS:

  • Superglue

  • Car filler/ Any other filler or smoothing product (I use Upol-Smooth car body filler)

  • Sanding equipment (Recommend using a Dremel and some sanding blocks)

  • Filler primer/ High build primer

  • Primer/ Paint/ Protective lacquer

  • Drill + 3mm drill bit

  • Files and Rasps

  • Sharp knife

STEP 1

Roughly sand all the listed components individually until the majority of the layer lines are gone.

I use my Dremel with a 60 grit drum to do this, quick and light passes are key to keep it consistent.

  1. Body top

  2. Body bottom

  3. Handle

  4. Lever

  5. Both of the top knobs

  6. Both the front round buttons

Leave the display components to the side for now.

STEP 2

Once most of the lines are gone use sanding paper and blocks up to 240-400, not too important, just to clean up the rougher sanding.

STEP 3

Next you will want to test fit all of the pieces together.

Use files and rasps to clean up the parts and test them again until you are happy with their fitment.

The two locating pins on the body pieces will need to be sanded to fit snugly together.

The pivot hole will likely need some sanding to allow the lever to swing freely under the springs pressure.

(The lever may need a small ramp to allow it to fit into the pivot hole, i use my Dremel to carve one for it but go slowly as it will eat through the plastic fast if you are not careful enough.)

STEP 4 - Optional

On any imperfections in the print and layer lines use a small amount of car body filler to fill the gaps and smooth it out.

Leave to dry for roughly 30 mins.

(Be careful to not fill in any holes that are apart of the design, this can be fixed later if you do.)

STEP 4.5 - Optional

When the Filler has set, use sanding sponges, paper and files to bring it back to the desired level.

If any parts where accidentally filled in, sand back all the filler and re shape the holes. The filler should be easier to sand then the plastic parts and will return to the right level easily.

STEP 5

After disassembling the parts again, drill out the 5 M3 holes on the top body piece to allow the longer (M3x20mm) bolts to pass through.

STEP 6

Spray all the parts that have been sanded with a filler primer and leave to dry.

STEP 7

Sand back the filler primer until you are happy with the surface quality.

Repeat the last 2 steps if needed.

STEP 8

Prime all the parts ready for paint.

STEP 9

Paint the main body pieces the main colour of the detonator.

(Rainbow Six Siege's Clacker is a light tan colour)

Apply a few coats until the finish is consistent and clean.

Paint the lever, handle, top knobs and front round buttons black.

STEP 10

Mask off for the black parts on the main body pieces.

on the bottom piece it will be both the protruding bulges along with the top curved detail on both the top and bottom parts.

STEP 11

Spray the masked areas black.

Apply a few coats until the finish is consistent and clean.

STEP 12

Remove the masking and apply a clear protective coat to all the sprayed pieces.

STEP 13

Press fit the 5 long (M3x20mm) bolts into the bottom body piece, then use the top piece to guide them into place.

(Allow enough of the bolt sticking through to fit a nut on the end.)

Separate the main body pieces and use superglue on the head of the screw to hold it into place in the lower part.

STEP 14

Scratch the paint off of where the front buttons will glue onto to ensure a solid bond to the plastic.

Glue the 2 front buttons into place using a small dot of superglue.

STEP 15

On the two top knobs, turn them upside down and glue the smaller (M3x12mm) bolts into them.

STEP 16

Moving onto the display now, place glue into the two small designated holes on the display piece and set the smaller springs into them.

STEP 17

Check that the small green and red square buttons fit inside the screen bezel loosely allowing them to move in and out freely.

STEP 18

Cut the acrylic screen to shape by using a ruler and sharp knife to score a line into it and snapping it.

Then use sanding tools to get it to fit tightly into the screen bezel piece.

STEP19

After the springs have dried into the display back piece, align the two small buttons into the bezel alongside the acrylic screen.

(The green button should be on top and the red below with the arrow facing towards the right)

STEP 20

Press the bezel into place over the top of the screen piece, it should snap into place.

(Make sure to line up the buttons onto the springs correctly)

add some glue to the join if it is too loose or the springs are separating the two pieces.

STEP 21 - Final assembly

Push the screen module into place under the top body piece.

Apply a small amount of glue around the lower area of the bezel to hold it in place.

(The bezel should be a tight fit when you press it into place)

STEP 22

Place the top and bottom main body pieces together locking 2 of the M3 nuts within the join for the 2 top knobs to screw into.

STEP 23

Screw the 2 top knobs into the nuts using a washer to space them from the paint.

Screw the 5 nuts onto the protruding bolts tightly holding the top and bottom pieces together.

STEP 24

Glue the black handle into place.

Glue the big spring into place.

STEP 25

Push the spring cap piece into place then slide the lever into the pivot hole locking the spring mechanism in place.

STEP 26

Bend the metal locking catch apart slightly then locate the 2 ends into the hole and press it back together again.
